The 7 hidden costs of conflict.

  • Cost of formal dispute resolution:
  • Expensive, time consuming and often disastrous to relationships. Justice at a very high price

  • Decreased individual competence:
  • People work less effectively when they are in conflict with colleagues.

  • Ineffective working relationships:
  • Distressed & disconnected staff due to conflict

  • Toxic communication:
  • Conflict results in people communicating badly, spilling over to peers and managers.

  • Impaired staff development:
  • Retention becomes difficult, staff who stay but do not function well, others may take sick leave

  • Impaired team development:
  • Team morale and output suffer, with personalized issues and blame is rampant
